Ah yes, the leavings. And, after this past year, what is left to do the leaving well. If it were me, the answer would be “not much”. Kind,honest and honoring are amazing goals for the season. This too shall pass, and I hope for sweet memories to surface slowly over the summer to honor the year that you have lived through. I hope too for a restorative summer. And maybe, some kebabs!

This actually made my mouth water! Why, after making cheese scones so often in Kathmandu, and after drooling my way through a jar of jalapeno jelly on various yummy things last summer, do I forget how unforgettable it is to pair the cheese/chili jam taste…especially if you happen to have aged cheese mementos in your fridge. If there are any left, think of me when you eat them. I am going to make this SOON. But only when lots of people are here to eat them, or you know what might happen!

Hi Julie, I often read your blog and love how you so elegantly put into words almost exactly how I’m feeling too. This one made me cry…I too brought cedar planks back from Oregon for the same reasons, only I used them (several times) because I couldn’t throw them away. The NW is calling and we’ll be home in a few days to family, friends, and cedar planks. Enjoy your summers.
